To mark the birthday of the Düsseldorf-based photographer Maren Heyne (1941–2025), the Werthmann-Heyne Foundation is exhibiting a selection of fifty artist portraits created by the photographer in the 1960s. Many of her photographs, taken in the artists’ studios, were published in the magazine "Die Kunst und das schöne Heim".

Juliane Roh has accompanied the photographs with texts on the living conditions of those portrayed. Almost all the photographs have been scanned from the original 6 x 6 negatives and reprinted in large format on Hahnemühle baryta photographic paper. The exhibition is accompanied by archive material from the Rheinisches Archiv für Künstlernachlässe (Rhenish Archive for Artists’ Legacies), which holds the photographer’s documentary estate.
