April 13 – May 20, 2026 – Deutsche Bundesbank, Head Office Düsseldorf
Objekte der Begierde –
Konrad Klapheck and his world of objects
An exhibition organised by the Deutsche Bundesbank in cooperation with the Rhenish Archive for Artists’ Legacies in Bonn
The exhibition focuses, for the first time, on numerous objects that served as models for Klapheck’s famous ‘machine paintings’.
The exhibition offers a fascinating insight into Klapheck’s early creative period. On display are personal documents, works from his time at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, a collection of everyday objects that served as sources of inspiration, and numerous drawings. A particular highlight is the first typewriter painting, which Klapheck painted in 1955.
